Greece, N.Y. (WHAM) — April is National Donate Life Month. On Sunday, Monroe County Clerk Adam Bello and those personally impacted by organ donation gathered at the Mall at Greece Ridge to raise a "Donate Life" flag.
They also educated people on how they can sign up to be an organ donor.
The flag is meant to remind the community that they have the potential to help save lives.
"Individuals who've received those life saving donations can drive by and see the support of the community around," said Bello.
"It also just raises that awareness, starts that conversation among family, friends, neighbors that being part of that registry is so important, and that the registry exists, Bello added.
More than 750 people in the Finger Lakes region are waiting for a life saving organ.
One organ donor can save up to eight lives.
