News10NBC Pirate Toy Fund Drive

The annual News10NBC Pirate Toy Fund Toy Drive is a one-week televised toy collection and awareness campaign highlighting the Pirate Toy Fund’s efforts during the month of December.

Founded in 1995, the Pirate Toy Fund is the only nonprofit organization of its kind in the country that collects and distributes new toys year-round through 75 local agencies that bring aid and comfort to children-in-need througout the greater Rochester region. The Pirate Toy Fund helps children who are ill, may have special needs, are victims of domestic violence or experience unexpected life-changing events. Last year, the Toy Fund collected and distributed over 34,000 toys.

The News10NBC Pirate Toy Fund Toy Drive takes place at Wilmorite’s Rochester-area malls (Eastview Mall, The Marketplace Mall, and the Mall at Greece Ridge). Throughout the week from sunrise to sunset, Pirate Toy Fund Founder Gary the Happy Pirate and on-air personalities from News10NBC (WHEC-TV) and Stephens Media Group (WARM 101.3, Fickle 93.3, The Zone 94.1) will be on-site at the malls broadcasting live and helping collect toys from the community. In addition, toy donations will be collected at all area Wegmans Food Markets.

This year’s collection goal for the week is 17,000 toys. Viewers and attendees can monitor our collection progress all week long on the KeyBank Toy-ometer!
