The Freemasons of the Genesee Region will hold its 28th annual Have a Heart fundraising campaign to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester from Jan. 31 through Feb. 14 at the three Rochester-area malls. The Rochester community is encouraged to purchase the $1 paper hearts to help support RMHC’s mission. Individuals will have the opportunity to write the names of family members, friends or loved ones on red paper hearts, which will be displayed at each mall location. All proceeds benefit RMHC of Rochester. “The Have a Heart campaign is something we always look forward to,” said Carol DeMoulin, president of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester. “The Masons have raised over $360,000 since 1988 for Ronald McDonald House. We are so thankful for their commitment and generosity. It’s special to see our community rally together and show our families extra love around Valentine’s Day.” Booths will be set up and staffed in the center court of the Marketplace Mall, 1 Miracle Mile Drive, Rochester; outside the food court at Eastview Mall, 7979 Pittsford Victor Road, Victor; and outside of JCPenney at the Mall at Greece Ridge, 271 Greece Ridge Center Drive, Rochester. The Freemasons of the Genesee Region began the fundraiser nearly 30 years ago to help build the Westmoreland House. Since its inception, the Have a Heart campaign has grown to include fraternity members from all across the Rochester region and sells over 50,000 hearts per year.
