The Mall at Greece Ridge Redevelopment Plan

REDEVELOPMENT PLANS FOR
THE MALL AT GREECE RIDGE

Wilmorite Management Group presented plans for a lifestyle redevelopment for the Mall at Greece Ridge at the Town of Greece planning board meeting on January 18th. The 27,000 square foot redevelopment will include: 4-5 full- service restaurants and a 20,000 square foot outdoor streetscape and courtyard

Demolition of the current Bon-Ton space will start in early April and the redevelopment is targeted to open in late 2012. Wilmorite has several restaurants lined-up for the space and will announce those as soon as the leases are executed. The goal is to bring new, unique restaurants to the Greece area that offer a variety of different cuisines and price ranges.  The restaurants will have outdoor seating overlooking the courtyard.  The existing mall entrance facing Route 104 will be eliminated and a new entrance facing the north-east will be created, leading to the courtyard. The total cost of the project will be between $12 and $14 million.

This project will be the first of a two phase process to revitalize the old
Greece Town Mall wing of the shopping center.  The second phase will include renovations to the interior of the mall and will include soft seating areas, additional restrooms, kiosks and a 1,392 square foot children’s play area. The play area will be similar to the one located at The Marketplace Mall with a central theme, soft play elements and comfortable seating for parents.

“Wilmorite has been working on this concept for several years. With the departure of Bon-Ton, in conjunction with an improving economy and financing environment, it’s the time to execute this development plan.  This is an ideal opportunity for us to be proactive in building something that will have a positive impact on both the mall and the community. We are creating a ‘new front door’ for the mall and an entertainment district that will complement existing uses within the mall, including the Regal Cinema.  The courtyard will be a terrific platform for community events and mall activities.” -Dennis Wilmot, Senior Vice President of Leasing & Development for Wilmorite Management Group.

The benefit to the community will begin immediately, with the creation of 100 construction jobs and between 210 and 230 new full time and part time jobs from the restaurants, (the Bon Ton currently has 66 full time and part time employees).  The anticipated net sales increase will be about $12 million.
